The council will coordinate the efforts of various security agencies across the country to prevent, investigate, and collect information on economic crimes. Buenos Aires, March 13 (NA) -- The Federal Council of Economic Crimes, a new body aimed at strengthening the prevention and investigation of economic crime throughout Argentina, was officially established this Friday by the Ministry of National Security led by Alejandra Monteoliva. This is Resolution 230/2026 published today in the Official Gazette, which details: 'The Federal Council of Economic Crimes is created, within the scope of the Undersecretariat of Criminal Investigation of the Secretariat for the Fight against Drug Trafficking and Organized Crime, with the mission of creating a space for inter-jurisdictional coordination for the prevention and investigation of this type of crime.' Additionally, it details that the council will aim to 'assist in the detection and prevention of the different manifestations of economic crimes that develop within the territory; collect and systematize information on economic crimes committed in the national territory, coming from both open sources and the Federal Police and Security Forces, provincial police, and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires'. It will also 'develop indicators and prepare periodic reports that serve as input for the work of the Council members; prepare a situation map, both at the national, regional, and provincial levels, with the aim of proposing measures aimed at the prevention of economic crimes and coordinate the exchange of existing information between the competent areas in the matter, for the generation of early warning indicators regarding the commission of economic crimes'. Other objectives will be: 'Form working groups, in order to share information and carry out situation analysis or analysis of specific situations with a view to contributing to the detection and prevention of the different manifestations of economic crimes, as well as other crimes foreseen and penalized by the National Penal Code that concur with the main crime, and analyze investigations in matters of economic crimes in order to identify opportunities for improvement of the procedures followed by the Federal Police and Security Forces, provincial police, and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires'.
